Kathryn King Sudol is a Partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and a member of the Firm’s Corporate Department where she focuses on mergers and acquisitions. Recent transactions include representing Mars, Incorporated in its $23 billion acquisition of Wm. Wrigley, Jr. Company, PRIMEDIA Inc. in the $1.2 billion sale of its Enthusiast Media business, Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. in its $13 billion merger with XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc., Claire's Stores, Inc. in its $3.1 billion sale to an affiliate of Apollo Management, Rinker Group Limited in connection with the $15.3 billion unsolicited tender offer launched by CEMEX, The Blackstone Group in its $9 billion acquisition of Trizec Properties, Inc., adidas AG in its $3.8 billion acquisition of Reebok International Ltd. and its sale of The Greg Norman Collection, Gas Natural SDG, S.A. in its $28.5 billion unsolicited exchange offer for Endesa, S.A., Grey Global Group Inc. in its $1.5 billion acquisition by WPP Group plc, Manulife Financial Corporation in its $11 billion merger with John Hancock Financial Services Inc. and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. in its C$3 billion acquisition of the Yellow Pages Group from Bell Canada. In addition, Ms. Sudol has represented Evercore Partners Inc. in multiple transactions, including the investment in the firm by Mizuho Corporate Bank, the firm’s initial public offering, acquisition of Protego Asesores, acquisition of Braveheart Financial Services, formation of Evercore Capital Partners II L.P. and Evercore Venture Partners L.P. and investments in Telenet N.V., Diagnostic Imaging Group and Michigan Electric Transmission Corporation. Ms. Sudol has represented L-3 Communications Corporation in connection with its acquisitions of the Aircraft Integration Systems division of Raytheon Corporation, the Avionics division of Goodrich Corporation, CMC Holdings, Inc., Sonoma Design Group and Technology Management & Analysis Corporation.

Ms. Sudol joined Simpson Thacher in 1998. She received her B.S., with honors, from Northwestern University, School of Speech, in 1995 and her J.D. from New York University School of Law in 1998, where she was the winner of the National Moot Court Competition in 1998 and the winner and best speaker of the National Civil Rights Moot Court Competition in 1997. Ms. Sudol is a trustee of The First Presbyterian Church in the City of New York and serves on the National Women’s Law Center Leadership 35 advisory committee. Ms. Sudol has been recognized by The New York Times as one of the next generation of dealmakers in "The Facebook of Wall Street’s Future."
