Steven Todrys is a Partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and Head of the Firm’s Tax Department.  Mr. Todrys is experienced in federal income taxation, with a particular emphasis on corporate mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, restructurings and real estate matters.  His recent experience includes the mergers of Northwest Airlines and Delta Airlines, the sale of DoubleClick to Google, the acquisition by Xerox of Affiliated Computer Services, the acquisition of Wyeth by Pfizer, the acquisition by Mars, Incorporated of The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, the acquisitions of First Data, Dollar General, Alliance Boots and Laureate Education in transactions led by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. and the acquisitions of Texas Genco and TXU.  He has also advised on numerous spin-off transactions, including the spin-off of CarMax by Circuit City and the spin-off of several businesses of H.J. Heinz and their merger with Del Monte. 

Mr. Todrys graduated from the University of Rochester in 1975 and received his J.D. in 1978, with honors, from the University of Chicago.  He was Chair of the Tax Section of the New York State Bar Association in 1998.  He currently serves as member of the Executive Committee, Tax Section.  Mr. Todrys has served as Co-Chair of the Committee on Personal Income Tax, the Committee on Partnerships, the Committee on Net Operating Losses and the Committee on Foreign Activities of U.S. Taxpayers.  He is admitted to practice in New York, the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. Supreme Court.
