The Intellectual Property Group offers a broad array of substantive expertise in intellectual property litigation and transactional matters. With eight partners and approximately 35 associates in New York, Palo Alto and other offices, the group represents clients ranging from market-leading multinationals to early-stage startups in fields where the protection of valuable intellectual property is critical – including apparel, biotechnology, computer software and hardware, consumer products, e-commerce, entertainment, financial services, integrated circuits, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals and publishing.
On the litigation front, the group handles major court cases, arbitrations and mediations involving patents, copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets, ranging from landmark Supreme Court cases to ITC, PTO and WIPO proceedings. The Firm’s New York and Palo Alto offices frequently work together to service clients in high-stakes technology disputes.
In the transactional arena, the group prepares and negotiates complex intellectual property agreements, both on a standalone basis and in connection with sophisticated financial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private investments, securities offerings, and banking and credit transactions. The group regularly advises clients on a wide variety of issues relating to intellectual property, including issues specific to cross-border transactions, e-commerce, bankruptcy, privacy, and the creation of new financial products.
